New Podcast: Compassionate Communities UK

Dr. Julian Abel chats with Professor Kellehear is the founding father of public health palliative care. His background is in social science and public health and he became the first non-clinical palliative care professor at La Trobe University in 1998. Applying the principles found in public health, particularly the β€˜new’ public health, Allan created a course in health promoting palliative care and wrote the foundation text in the subject. Since then, he has travelled the world, both as an academic on a number of different continents and as a renowned speaker, stimulating worldwide interest in public health palliative care. He coined the term compassionate communities and formulated the compassionate city charter. He was the first president of Public Health Palliative Care International, and continues to write books and articles about the subjects of death, dying, loss and caregiving.

In this podcast, we discuss the background and basic principles of public health palliative care. Discussions with Allan will be a regular participant of our podcasts.
