PHPCI AWARDS - 2026

Applications are now open for the 9th PHPCI Conference Awards

The PHPCI Awards recognise work from PHPCI members* from around the world who have recently made, or are currently making, an outstanding contribution to the field of public health palliative care. *To join PHPCI, please click here (membership fees are adjusted according to country of residence).

How to Apply 

-Candidates can apply themselves or be nominated by a supervisor, mentor, or similar.
-Candidates/nominees should complete the form linked below for each relevant award.

Selection process 

On receipt of a completed submission, a sub-group of the PHPCI committee will consider applications for all listed categories. One applicant from each category will be selected as the prize winner and presented with the award at the 9th PHPCI Conference in Taipei City, Taiwan, 6-9 October, 2026. 

Selected winners for each category will receive:
      1) A free ticket to the PHPCI conference in 2028
      2) An illustrated certificate specific to the winning idea

Applications are now open for the 2026 awards and will close on September 1, 2026.

Early Career Researcher Award
This award is meant for researchers within 4 years (excluding maternity/parental leave, or certified long-term sick leave)  of the completion of their PhD. This award is encouraging young and promising researchers to pursue their academic career in the field of public health and palliative care.

Research Impact Award
This award is meant for someone whose research has had an outstanding impact on the PHPC field in terms of policy, practice, or societal impact in the last five years period (From 2021-2026)

Community Building Award
This award now includes 3 separate award categories ( 1) Organisation/Partnership
2) Practice Leadership and 3) Early Public Health Palliative Care Practitioner. The awards are designed to recognize civic organisations, practice leaders and early practitioners that provide palliative and supportive care to communities in the midst of the encounters with ageing, dying, death, caregiving, and grief and loss.

Before applying, candidates are asked to read the Eligibility Terms and Conditions document. Please note that Community building specifically refers to community development and or organising that enhances a community’s own capacity and abilities to support others in end-of-life circumstances. Community building refers specifically to this capacity-building aspect of civic life.
